Average SAT Scorces, but Everything Else is Great

<p>Hi. I'm a junior, soon to be senior. I wanted to know if I still have a good chance at selective schools (specifically Yale, Brown, Columbia, Stanford, and UChicago). I feel like my low SAT score is my only hindrance. Could I still have a chance? Here are my stats:</p>

<p>Personal:
-Daughter of Lesbian Parents
-African American/Caucasian
-Female/ California
-Middle Class Income: ~$110,000
-Intended Major: English Lit, Creative Writing, and/or Vocal Music</p>

<p>Academics:
-GPA: 4.0 Unweighted/ 4.33 Weighted
<em>SAT: 1900</em> and I'm taking the ACT this June
-Course Rigor: AP Calc AB, AP Euro, APUSH, H Chem, and H Eng (APUSH: 5/ waiting on the other AP score results)
-->Next year I'll be taking AP Calc BC, AP Eng Lit, AP Physics C, AP French, and AP Psych
-Pursuit of Excellence Awards: Geo, English, and Physical Science (2012)/ APUSH (2013)/ H Chem (2014)</p>

<p>Athletics:
-Cross Country Captain and League Champion (4 years in sport)
-->Student-Athlete Award: Running Cross Country while maintaining a 4.0 (2011-Present)

-Track and Field Captain (Varsity: 3 Years) and League Champion (4 Years in sport)</p>

<p>You have a chance because you are an URM. You won’t get into all of those schools but you may get into one.</p>

<p>It’s tough, but definitely try applying early to one of them that you feel would give you the best chance to get into. Personally, I’d assume it to be Brown or UChicago.</p>

<p>In my opinion, I feel that you could retake the SAT’s but what do I know, I’m just a freshman :p</p>

<p>If you are such an accomplished athlete, why not run @ those schools? You’d probably get in that way. </p>

<p>if you increase the SAT to about 2100 and are good enough to be recruited, I’d say you get into most of those schools. Without either of those two, probably 1-2 of those schools. </p>

<p>URM help, but there are plenty with better scores too. Try to bring it up to 2100+.</p>

<p>Take the best SAT class in your town/city this summer. Our neighbor took one in June/July prior to his senior year and raised his score 200 points (very focused and driven student). He is now starting his sophomore year at an Ivy League school.</p>

<p>You definitely have a chance. I would say your only weakness right now is your SAT score. </p>

<p>I think your SAT is a huge weakness. You are a URM, but your income is very high, so they will expect more. If you want to increase your chances, try to get recruited. Otherwise, they are all out if reach.</p>
