What is the average SAT score of URMs in Harvard?

Id like to know this too ... im applying with a 1450 SATI (760m, 690v) ...and SAT IIs of: 760 math IIc, 750chem, 640 writing (retaking this one in dec)

<~~AA

Same here.... I've got 1510 SAT I(770V,740M) and SAT 2's of 800 Writing,800 Maths 2c and 780 Chem

Well, this wouldn't really apply to you, akashbansal; Indians are not URM's.

do they even publish these sats(statistics)?

I doubt that they do. The results wouldn't do anything but fuel anti-AA feelings in the community, which is something they definitely do not want.

I had a 1490 SAT first time around and 1590 (800M 790V) the 2nd time. I tried for the 1600, even though I know the SAT isn't everything, but it certainly helps. Now, I have to wait on the SAT II's. :-( Is anyone else waiting? The 19th won't be here soon enough!

1590..lol thats tuff good luck with your 1600 but really guys do u think harvard is all its cracked up to be??

yeah, harvard actually IS all it's cracked up to be ...

harvard shmarvard...its a good skool but there are lots others GREAT non ivy league schools

Harvard Schmarvard! Brown Schmrown! Case Western Reserve University Shmase Festrern Freservaschunissusity! I appled to harvard with a 1550 (800m 750v) and SATII scores of 750 latin, 720 us history, 790 math, 740 writing, (waiting on Nov score), and im waiting on bio
It's mostly luck whether people get in or not!

of course there are great non-ivy league schools ... i was just answering your question

Harvard is not all it's cracked up to be. Come on. From what I here everyone on campus gets A's. Also, I hear the professors are so reverred that no one talks to them para nada. I would rather go somewhere where I might be able to get a faculty recommendation for Medical School. The education at public universities like Berkeley, Michigan, and Virginia, are just as good and cost far less.

te difference between harvard and UC is the same as that between versace and guess shirts...great quality look good just one costs more..hey mayebe thatll be an sAT analogy
Harvard: UC as Versace: guess lol

"Harvard Schmarvard! Brown Schmrown! Case Western Reserve University Shmase Festrern Freservaschunissusity!"

LOLOL

Don't believe everything you hear ... everyone here does NOT get A's, believe me, I know - you have to WORK for an A here, they do NOT come easily at all, especially since in many classes there's a set number of A's that are allowed to be distributed. And as far as professors go, not only do they practically beg us to come to office hours, they often come and sit in on and participate in our class sections, so once again, don't place too much stock in rumors you hear about Harvard ... it's really a great place.

consider that blacks compose 12.9 percent of the population in the USA. Harvard reserves about 8.4 percent of its student body for African-Americans to promote diversity (AA). the average African-American SAT is 202 points lower than the white SAT. the average African-American GPA is .41 points lower than the average white GPA. additionally, URMs usually come from a low economic standing, and many of the few qualified applicants look towards "easier" schools because of scholarship money opportunities. i have noticed that many people on cc do not understand the statistics of minority recruitement and their implications. look out for a post in the near future with figures and examples that are likely to make anti-AA proponents wet themselves.

ivyleaguechamp

Harvard does not "reserve" places for any URMs. I'm not sure where "Ivyleaguechamp" is getting his/her information, but lots of it is wrong.

northstarmom, admit that if harvard didn't factor in race at all, there would be a lot fewer URMs than there are now. tell me what's wrong with my information. if you don't believe that schools do not tailor the demographics of their student body, you are quite gullible.

If I was born in South Africa, could I call myself an African-American and get URM status?
