Average/Slightly Above Students - Recent Acceptance Thread

Lauren933… Where are you from? Still waiting to hear from SDSU

ckcckc52 – He received about $15k per year. There are different levels of scholarships based on GPA and test scores, you can get details on the school website. Best of all – he absolutely loved UA after his visit in Nov.

Update! I found out that I was accepted into San Francisco State University!

I’m still pursuing USC. Even though I have a very good GPA (3.86 W & 4.35 UW), I consider USC to be a high reach for me because my SAT/ACT scores are very low (1590 & 24). When I read you guys scores of 1800+ and 28+, I feel a little discouraged. lol

Curious — what is your major at SFSU???

Microbiology

Sent from my HTC-PG762 using CC

3.98 GPA
33 ACT superscore
2130 SAT

MIT
UPitt
UA
ASU

Hopefuls:
Stanford
Rice
Columbia
Penn
Williams

^jsmathwiz: wrong thread. Did you even read the title? :)

Yay for being only slightly above average! My gpa is a 3.5 and my super scored SAT score is a 1750, but my best straight test score is a 1680. I was accepted to: Rutgers New Brunswick (school of arts and sciences), Duquesne university, Monmouth, Towson, and Salisbury. I was deferred from catholic university. I have not heard from UMBC and Rowan. I basically did early action for all of them because I wanted to get it done. Anyone else hear from or apply to these schools? I’m probably going to either Towson or Rutgers or maybe UMBC depending on what I hear. Good luck everyone!:)

This is my first post here on CC! I’m still figuring out how to navigate and participate, so forgive me if I make any beginner’s mistakes.

GPA: 3.8
ACT: 22
SAT: 1700
(Standardized tests are not my strength!)
Class rank: 3rd, but I go to an extremely small, private school and our Senior class is far from what would be considered “average.”

I’ve been accepted to every safety school I have, which are all in-state. And I was recently accepted to St. John’s University, Queens campus (with a scholarship!!!), which is one of my top choices!

I’m waiting to hear back from Clemson University, Belmont University, and NYU. NYU has been my #1 since I was a seventh grader, so I’m pretty anxious about that one!

Didn’t realize how long this post was until I went back and proofread - sorry, all! I tend to ramble.

When did you apply to St. johns and when did you get your acceptance letter? I applied awhile ago…^^

I applied on September 23rd (thank God I printed out all of my applications and hoarded them in a binder) and got my acceptance letter/materials on December 24th. Good luck with everything!

In high school I was way average. 3.1 (I think? Or somewhere about there) GPA, 25 ACT, about all I had going as for hooks was a strong upward trend (my freshmen year was horrifying), first generation college student and first generation American (is that even a hook? I dunno)
And I was accepted at Marquette University (I was a legacy here so I’m sure that helped me) and a few Wisconsin state schools. So for all y’all non 4.0ers, you’re definatly going to college. Don’t be scared off by all the 4.0 GPAs with 36 ACT scores and 6,000 ECs floating around on cc :)

And I hope you all get accepted everywhere you apply. I’m I’m the same boat as I wait for my transfer admission result. Waiting is not anymore fun the second time around.

GPA- 3.4
SAT - 1690

Accepted:
Roger Williams University - $9000 scholarship
Salve Regina University - $8000 scholarship
Suffolk University - no scholarship info

Awaiting:
Bentley University (top choice, FINGERS CROSSED!!)
Umass Amherst
Endicott College
Johnson and Wales University (fallback)

Congrats on getting accepted to St. John’s University and the other schools! St John’s University actually sent me a free app and I was planning on applying there for the heck of it (and because it was in New York lol) then my mom asked me how was I going to get there if I get accepted and spontaneously decide to go there (considering I live in California)… and I couldn’t answer her. lol Long story short, even though St. John seemed like a pretty good school, it is too far from home and I used up all my SAT/ACT score report fee waivers. :-)

Technically I don’t belong to this thread… 4.0, 2140 [650 800 690]
but I just wanted to say that I used to consider myself as just barely above average because of my race (asian) and stuff I see on this site.
This thread made me realize I should value myself more and gave me some confidence :)

This site does the worst things to people.

I agree so much.

well, i did this a couple years ago but I was below average: Strong ECs GPA: 2.67, SAT: 1580 I got into ECU, Radford, WVU, Western Carolina, Southern Connecticut, Wait listed at Salisbury University, rejected from UNC - Wilmington, App State and UCONN Storrs. But there is hope for those of you who want to “upgrade” (transfer) I pulled a 180, got my ***** together and have a 3.72, extremely strong ECs and will likely transfer to UVA, UNC or Duke after this, my second year, is over.

^^I agree as well. I spent so much time on this site that I had to take a step back and realize what I have accomplished in addition to the fact that NOT going to a “top School” doesn’t mean that I’m going to end up a jobless hermit

Prad123 pl furnish the 17 colleges u have applied.
You should have got in Purdue sure
