Average/Slightly Above Students - Recent Acceptance Thread

I think it’s hilarious you all think you’re average. A c is supposed to be average and the national average on the act is something like a 21.

After chancing for so many “cream of the crop” students, it’s reassuring to see average students who post results, alongside their files.

3.9 and 2200s SAT! Getting my first result today T_T

Been accepted to Virginia Tech and University of TN
3.9 w
ACT 25

Our son is an average student who was just accepted to TCNJ’s Business program - Early Decision. He has a 3.6 weighted GPA and got 1660 on his SAT. We are very proud of him. Good luck to all of you “average” students!

I was an “average CCer” last year and I got into these schools:

3.97 weighted GPA and 23 ACT

Beloit College
Calvin College
Grand Valley state
College of Wooster
Knox College
Earlham College
Kalamazoo College
Aquinas College
Hope college
Illinois Wesleyan

I was waitlisted at:

UMichigan
Wheaton college (IL)
Denison U
Connecticut College
Dickinson College

Thirrdplanet, a C isn’t really average anymore, because most schools don’t grade on a curve and grade inflation is rampant everywhere. A kid who really does have a 2.0 average is unlikely to be applying to college. Since this is a site for college bound people, you’re not going to see many 2.0 students here.

slightly “above average”, i guess? i’m not sure what defines that. x:

1930 SAT, good ECs, ~3.7 GPA UW
(32 ACT, not really sure how that happened)

accepted to boston university, early decision!

94ish average, had a 1750 when I applied (1830 now WOOP WOOP) and 4909057457057345749 ECs

Got into Purdue University!

… and I still haven’t finished applying to my other schools! Heheh.

3.7 W GPA with extenuating circumstances, 28 superscored ACT (27 if not)

Accepted to Fordham and Clark U.
Waiting on Pace, SUNY Binghamton, New Paltz, Geneseo, Hampshire College, Bard College, and applying to Sarah Lawrence College and Smith (huge reach).

Hey, guys. Thought if I shared my info I might get some feedback on my chances at getting into Boston University.
My GPA isn’t the best, between my first two years of high school I had an 86 on a 100 point scale. My Junior year average was a 95 with one AP (APLang&Comp) and this year I’m taking three APs. My first quarter grades were awesome (nearly all weighted around 104+), with one exception, a 65 in Pre-calc. (Cringed upon writing that, yikes.)
My SAT is an 1830.
As far as ec, I feel very strong. I started writing my first novel when I was 14, finished it at 16 and published at age 17. I have over 500 hours of hospital community service. I am a Girl Scout, Sunday School teacher, singing choir lead soprano vocalist, bell choir member, voluntary English tutor, vacation bible school counselor, acolyte, and student at a selective, community college-affiliated multi-genre writing program, which I’ve earned honors in for the past two years. I’ve worked two seasonal jobs.
I’m looking to study English in the hopes of going to grad school and becoming a professor. (Fingers crossed!)
I’m not sure how closely BU looks into ec, but I’m hoping someone on here will have some idea.
Chances?
Thanks a bunch, I really appreciate it. :)

I am new on CC so it’s nice seeing a board that I feel comfortable posting in so Yay for average students. I have a 3.2 weighted gpa and this is my senior ear which I am doing my best in so far. I am getting around a 4.0 right now, but I really don’t know if that affects admission decisions. I am really bad at standardized test or test that aren’t given out by teacher no matter how much I try to prep for them so I ended up with 1600 on SAT and 21 on the ACT.
I applied to:
California State University of Monterey Bay
UC Santa Cruz
San Diego State University
Southern Oregon University
Colorado State University of Fort Collins
Colorado University:Boulder
Denver University
Hawaii Pacific University
Menlo College

Accepted to:
Montana State University
University of Colorado at Colorado Springs

25 ACT
1680 SAT
3.2 GPA private HS
2 - 3 honors classes per year
2 sports

Accepted
Ohio University $6500 Sch.
Maine
North Dakota

Pending

Hey! Class of 2013 student here! I have a 3.428 GPA and a 28 on the ACT. I have had some serious circumstances that brought my GPA down last year and so I’m EXTREMELY worried about my admissions decisions… I have been accepted into St. Catherine’s University and the University of Minnesota- Twin Cities.

I’ve applied to Creighton University, Drexel U, Carrol U, Converse U, and Illinois Wesleyan.

I plan to apply to Ohio State, Catholic U of America, and Dominican U of Cali. I’d like to apply to some other schools as well. I’m applying as a nursing major, by the way.

Just so you know, I LOVE THIS POST! I know that I’m not totally average, but compared to CC posters I have no chance anywhere.

A junior right now but I’m so happy to see that there are more people like me! Hope you all get accepted to whatever colleges you apply to
Btw do you think the “average” student can expect merit scholarships from colleges? I desperately need them but after seeing the perfectionists here I feel like I’d just be lucky to get in somewhere.

totally 5am6996! like i posted before Lasell College, along with New haven U, gave me their highest merit scholarship, honors program, and more scholarship money for EC’s. you don’t always have to be topnotch to get merit scholarships… it just depends on where u apply!

Hey guys this thread is awesome! I feel like such a failure on all other CC threads haha anyways my GPA is like a 3.5 and my sat is a 1990. I got into UVM and Northeastern recently and today I got deferred from Georgetown and Brown both of which I was shocked at. I thought for sure theyd both be rejections! Anyways as for hopeful34 I think youll get in. But then again I guess I know just about as much as you. Goodluck to everyone I hope you guys get into your dream schools.

^^^ Congrats on getting accepted to UVM and Northeastern that’s awesome.

Also I forgot to mention Congrats to everyone else how selfish of me, but anyways congrats to those who has been accepted to their top school and good luck if you’re still waiting. All of you seem like great students.

Thank You! I am thrilled that I was accepted at both but they aren’t exactly cheap haha Luckily I got scholarships from both but I feel like I wont get much Financial aid! Anyways goodluck with your schools especially UCSD! I am so jealous of some of those awesome California state schools
