Hi! If I could categorize myself, I would say I’m a pretty average smart student. I do well, but I’m not a valedictorian or shooting to go to a top 20 university. What would you say my chances are for the following schools, with my stats below? Thanks!
Heres where I am applying and what major I’m applying as (some vary at each school)
Boston University (COM)
Northeastern University (COM)
Syracuse University (BUS/COM DUAL)
Fordham University (COM)
University of Pittsburgh (BUS)
Villanova University (COM)
American University (BUS)
George Washington University (BUS)
Rutgers University (BUS)
Temple University (BUS)
Princeton (lol)
I may also end up applying to Lehigh. Does anyone have any other schools to suggest that I may have overlooked? Fordham is my top school! Followed by BU and GWU
Here are my stats:
Large Suburban NJ HS (500+ Students)
GPA: 4.7 Weighted
Class Rank: 1st Decile

So basically I just want to know my chances at these schools. PLEASE do not tell me about scholarship or financial aid chances I just wanna know if I could get in or not. Thank you so much!
You definitely seem good for all of the schools except Princeton. Northeastern is a toss-up, but if your essays are amazing, who knows. Best of luck! If you ever have time, please check out the chance me I made.
@baileyfle@ImAwfulWithNames thank you! Im pretty much expecting a waitlist or denial from Northeastern, and princeton… well its princeton. Thanks for the feedback!
I think you are in decent shape for all but Princeton. Cornell has a communication program in the CALS school-- it’s different from those at your other schools, but may be of interest to you.
You will LIKELY get deferred if you apply EA at Northeastern, so you may well wait and apply RD (not sure what our app strategy is).
In the end -you will LIKELY get into all 1-10. You have way too many matches. Cut some out - why bother wasting your money on so many matches. Visit some schools and cut out a few you KNOW you would not go to if you got in.
@suzyQ7@Squirg thank you for the feedback! Would you recommend applying to Villanova EA? I’m struggling in a certain class and think it might affect admissions. Also, I have a lot of matches for a kind of personal reason. I wasn’t planning to apply to Rutgers or Temple, but had to add them. Thanks!
Its nice to have an acceptance in your pocket by December, so I would recommend applying EA to any school where your stats are in the top 75%. Villanova, Temple and GW fit the bill. But don’t apply to them if you’ve visited and don’t like them…
@suzyQ7 ive visited all these schools and liked them all a lot. I know my list is kinda big, but I couldn’t think of reasons to take one off! I think its good for me to have a big list personally because most are expensive so i’ll have more opportunities for money/acceptances and they’re all pretty similar type schools
Princeton (lol)

OK!! Now it’s time to come up with a REALISTIC list since this list will NOT work out.
You’re a NJ resident
UPitt will not be affordable unless your parents pay all costs.
Don’t waste your time with Princeton. That’s a waste of time and money
Frankly, the only school that might be affordable is Rutgers instate, UNLESS your parents will pay for those other schools.
Most of these schools are CSS Profile and they’ll be brutal with that beach house AND they’ll count your home equity.
