Average starting salaries

Thank you, almighty Seven Nights, for providing us with the final say on the "legitimate reason" to go to college.

Seven Nights - "but because its their talent and deepest passion. that is a legitimate reason. making boat loads of cash isn't."
Why? Colleges are as much a path to higher earning as they to higher learning...

go tell that to an adcom at any college. that the function of college is to make cash. it isnt. (and i dont have the energy to go on philsophising about college education role). the point is that college serves to prepare you. it isnt created to make people wealthy. if your interest is in making cash then go start your company. i mean if you have the talent to apply at Wharton then go start your business. you sound like you dont need college. your too good for it. right? go work for some company and shower yourself in cristal and Hermes ties.

thanks for your curtness....lets agree to disagree on this one

What happens if you want the education at Wharton so you can be better at starting that company, Seven Nights?

I agree that a college serves to prepare you -- to prepare you for a career that will make you money.

i agree with you Mavin. my only argument is that a college education isnt made to generate money, but rather the skills you learn make you that money.

so whats wrong in going for the one that gives you the skills to make the most money.
