Average Stats for CS

Hi guys, I am really freaking out since I can not find a safety for CS and I am doubting my chances at UMass Amherst.
If you applied last year ( UMass raised its standards since last year) and got in for CS could you posibly post your stats. Thanks your comments will really ease some stress.

You might wanna post some stats then I can give you a broad verdict…

@terrence16‌ I have a 3.86 UW GPA and a 4.38 W GPA. My ACT is a 27 without writing. As for my courseload, I have taken mostly honors and 5 AP classes. My extracirculars are great. Ohhh an I am instate

Hello there, Im currently a cs freshman here getting straight A’s in the intro math and cs courses Im taking currently. Here were my stats when I applied

3.25/4 GPA. I took all honors classes along with ap stats senior year. I took calculus which my adviser said is a great thing for applicants getting directly into the major instead of being accepted as undeclared. I had an 1830 SAT (650 Math) and was in the top 25% of my class. I was out of state. I was in debate team, a state-wide pre-engineering program, chess club, and more extracurriculars. I had tons of community service mainly doing outreach programs in poor areas around the country. That’s about it.

If you need any advice feel free to ask me. I didn’t think I would get accepted as a cs major because my gpa was pretty low (So low that I got rejected from other schools like Northeastern, WPI, etc) yet here I am! If you did well in your math courses and made it up to calculus that’s a major plus.

If you have some calculus under your belt you have nothing to worry about

@penguinz03‌ Thanks for responding. I really appreciate it. Just my opinion here, you are better off at UMass rather than NU and WPI. Those schools cost much more expensive and do not offer anything better than UMass.

@Violet1996‌ I am currently taking AP Calc AB. Thansks for thr reasurance

You needa stop freaking out mate. Your grades are spot on and you’re taking the right courses so I don’t think there should really be any problem :)

How can you make this comparison? Did you also attend Northeastern and WPI?

You are in great shape I’m jealous. I am the one freaking out because I didn’t take Calculus so i’ll probably be admitted as undeclared :(
