I live in the West Coast too and I want to go to Human Ecology too but I heard that I have a better chance with ARts and Sciences. Human Ecology is publicly endowed by NY State so they need to have a certain percent of NY Residents</p>
<p>That used to be the case that non-New Yorkers were discriminated against in the contract colleges, but that is no longer so. Each college strives for geographic diversity, although Californians have no especial advantage as there are hundreds of them at Cornell already. Your best chances, geographically, arise if you come from a small, underrepresented state such as one of the Dakotas, New Mexico, Arkansas, etc. That's of course true for Rhodes Scholarships and a host of other things at this point in your lives.</p>
