i'm currently a junior in a pretty competitive school in nj.
my cumulative gpa (freshmen and soph) currently is a 3.94 unweighted, and i only had one honors in freshmen year so weighted wouldn't make much of a difference. i'm in top 32% of my grade -.-;; out of around 300 kids. i'm hoping to boost my rank and gpa up because i'm taking 2 ap's and 2 honors classes this year. i was just wondering what business colleges i actually have a chance with, and what extracurricular activities are recommended, considering how i barely have any. is it too late? oh and my board scores so far only consist of bio sat 2, which was a 710, and i'm gonna take the chem sat2's this oct and nov. (probably cancel the october one.) so can anyone just give me some advice? thanks.

bump
can anyone help?

With that rank, you will not be too competitive at the top business programs or business programs at top schools for the most part. However if you are able to put a decent resume together and you do you well enough on your SAT's (1300+) you will be competitive for admission to Michigan (transfer in to business program after freshman year), Indiana (Kelly is a top-10 business program) and many other schools. Look for state schools with fairly high ranked business programs such as the two I mentioned and others like Illinois, Wisconsin, Penn state, Maryland. You will also be competitive at most business-only colleges such as Babson and Bentley.

There's a problem with what you posted here.

How can you be 3.94 UW (meaning you have one B and the rest As through your first two years), and still only be in the top 32% of your class?

You should be in about the top 3% of your class, minimum, unless they are going by weighted GPA and everybody else took the honors/AP/IB classes.

Explain this a bit, then I'll get to some advice and schools.

Thanks,

wait. so i guess it's 3.94 weighted. hahahah!!! sorry.
yeah. our valedictorian has like a 5.2 weighted.

how can they have a 5.2, don't you only get a 5.0 for honors/ap?

in our school, a+'s in ap/honors is a 5.4.
ANYWAY WE'RE GETTING OFF TOPIC.

so any recommended extracurriculars or volunteer work?

bump.
can anyone help?

Look at Bentley, near Boston. It's a good school for business. Babson is good, too. Well, you're a junior, so yes, you can still do something on the EC front. I wouldn't go overboard with committing time to it- just do something so that they will not wonder whether you are shy and withdrawn. Anything showing school spirit or community service would help. You should buy a SAT book and study it, or sign up for a prep course. The courses are expensive though- a book is great if you actually use it.

haha yeah i'm taking courses already.
thanks a lot.

Hows recruiting at UMDCP?
