Average Student

Does anyone one here think an average student like me can be successfull in medicine...

GPA(3.46)ACT 18

These both could be higher i'm just very lazy.....I wonder if i overcame my laziness could I be able to adjust the rigors of pre-med.....

Answer honestly..............

sure, but you do have to work hard. It's at least worth a try.

Right On Finally Some Hope Do You Know Any Good Schools That Will Accept These Grades And Scores

If I'm reading that ACT score correctly (<a href="http://www.ivywest.com/acttosat.htm)%5B/url%5D">http://www.ivywest.com/acttosat.htm)</a>, I do think you're in trouble. The mean SAT score is probably about 1020 on this scale for kids going to college, so the rest of your application becomes rather important if you are applying to four-year institutions.

Still, when the time comes, no reason not to take a few premed courses in college and see how they go.

I am not any sort of expert on getting into colleges. Don't discount state schools. Are you on the Kansas side or missouri side of KC? (I'm originally from Overland Park)

If you want to go, educate yourself about what that means (the premed classes you have to take, the volunteering, physican shadowing, research opportunities,etc...)
You will need a strong math background to be able to do well in the science courses. If you are weak in this area, spend the time now to start tutoring yourself so that you can do well when in college. If you are willing to do that, then there is no reason why you can't succeed if you want to.

I live on the Missouri side

There are certainly plenty of places in Missouri that will accept you - Northwest MO State, Missouri State, MO Western, Southeastern MO State, and so on. I'm not sure about Truman or Mizzou as they will have higher standards, but I doubt that a 3.46 is an absolute deal breaker. Might depend on your class rank, but again, I'm not familiar enough with the Missouri schools to tell you what those standards are.
