Hey guys I was reading the huge thread where accepted seniors posted their stats and what not, and I found it incredibly difficult to find students with similar stats to mine. I'm sure that I'm not the only one out there with these sentiments! It would be awesome if we got a thread going where average, but still acheiving students could chance one another or, even better, students who scored well but not great (let's say 1800-2100 on the SAT) could post their acceptance results. I think it'd be very helpful and stress-relieving to see that you don't need perfect SATs to get into a respectable school!

Every year, 1.6 million people take the SAT. the average score is 1500. How many people on CC? Im guessing maybe a few thousand at most, so an 1800 SAT is still FAR better than most kids. CC is overwhelming, but this is not a reliable representation of the national public. Most high-schools have graduation rates of about 60%, with only 30% going to college, so that is already impressive, having a 1800 SAT and going to a respectable college is even better.

Agreed, but the average student who scores a 1500 isn’t going to concern themselves with college admissions forums either. I realize that 1800 is well above the national average, I’m advocating for a thread where the average student ON COLLEGE CONFIDENTIAL can find some help! 1800 is a great score, I just think it’d be nice to have a thread with students who are bright and will get into respectable universities, but not necessarily the Ivies. When I said “average” I meant in regard to the students who consistently post 2250+ on the other threads, that doesn’t give the VAST majority of people, as you pointed out, a good scope of admissions possibilities. While this would still be a narrow scope, let’s broaden it to more than just the NMF!

I agree with you guys. Finally, some people who value a little averageness. My 1960 seems like nothing with these high scores on this website. I’m only a junior so don’t expect any decisions any time soon, but I would be willing to answer any more average stuff. I thought I had a little overachiever in me, but I guess not. But good luck to those high scorers.
