Average transfer GPA's for several top schools

Hi does anyone know the average transfer gpa's for any of these schools?

Tufts, Cornell, Georgetown, Duke, UVA, NYU

Thanks

I believe Georgetown is about a 3.7 What you’re asking is very broad. You might want to look at average transfer GPA’s for the departments in which you are applying to at these schools to get a better idea of where you stand.

Also if you go to the website of these schools, a lot of them have the average admitted transfer student profile.

I agree with Athletics12. Don’t think there is an average for Cornell…The GPAs are all over the board for that school.

agreed with rstrl. they’re more about “fit” than gpas, though they do have unofficial minimums and stuff. if you’re boaderline, they’ll take a closer look at your grades and grades do matter a lot with some of the more competitive majors. if you want, take a look at the spring or fall cornell transfer threads to get a better idea of who was accepted.

Can someone get into Cornell with a 3.38? Or would that be a waste of time and money to apply?

yes, but your essays will need to be perfect. also it depends on what school/major.

yes you can get into Cornell. It’s the easiest of the ivy’s to get into. If you have a very under enrolled major, with excellent EC’s, upward grade trend, and personal statement explaining the C or D that you got, you can get in with 3.38

i’m offended that you said it’s the easiest of the ivies to get into. some kids get into yale and get rejected from cornell. do you even go to cornell?

they’re “easy” on applicants because they want their student body to be made up of people with passion for what they’re studying. numbers matter, but if you’re going to add to the cornell community, then they’d rather have that.

Does anyone know where I can find the average GPA for people getting into the Northeastern business school?

I agree with ironicallyunsure. Many of Cornell’s applicants are “self-selected” because many more people know about Yale than say Cornell’s CALS or school of ILR.

My major is philosophy and I would be applying for the College of Arts and Sciences. Also, I never received a C on my transcript, it’s just the amount of B’s that I have brought it down.

It depends on what type of courses you’re taking.

3.5 in Premed and 4.0 in Bullcrap classes just isn’t the same.

I’m sure it strokes your ego to think you’re one special little flower. But really, Cornell is the easiest Ivy to get into. Sure, you can say that some people are accepted at Harvard but rejected at Cornell, but that’s the exception to the rule.

Regarding schools looking at the “whole person,” every school says that, and every student admitted at that school says that.

Edit: It’s also worth mentioning that, since Harvard no longer accepts transfer applications, Cornell is easier to get into as a transfer–by definition–than Harvard.

i AM a special little flower, thanks for noticing.

Never really said that you are. I just said that it strokes your ego to think you are.

i am, regardless of what you think

i also don’t really understand why you’re spending your time trying to insult teenagers on the internet. i say what i want on whatever threads i want, and instead of actually helping any posters, you always have something negative to say to me. i guess if you get a kick out of it, go for it, but i’m done with your nonsense comments. have a nice life.

Nowhere did I insult. I simply said that Cornell is not as selective as the other Ivy League schools, and dispelled the notion that this can be explained by your account.

Granted, I could have said it more nicely, but nowhere did I insult you.

What about a 3.38 application for Notre Dame as a philosophy major?

I honestly don’t think a 3.38 GPA is good enough for any top school, especially when you consider your competition.

Really I feel like it depends how competitive the school you went to is. I go to a top 30 state school so I feel like a 3.3 isn’t bad from a school like that.
