Hi,
Does anyone know the average GPA for a Statistics major at the University of Virginia?

Is this kind of information even published? There are only 10-20 statistics majors every year… Average UVA GPAs can be found at [UVa - Undergraduate Grade Point Averages](http://www.web.virginia.edu/iaas/data_catalog/institutional/data_digest/acad_gpa.htm)

I’m also interested in average gpa for a economics major at uva…

Just curious…why do you want to know this info?

I was originally planning on studying commerce at UVA, but I have heard that they are potentially starting an Actuarial Finance concentration in Statistics. I was considering pursuing this Actuarial Finance degree, so I was just trying to check out the department.

You might want to consider math w/ a concentration in finance, financial economics, or both.

Do you know how many of the Actuarial exams this or these tracks will directly prepare you for?

I don’t really know much about actuarial exams. Browsing through this site might help:[Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) - Requirements](Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) | SOA), it looks like you’ll need mathematical statistics, probability, more statistics…some economics…

A major in financial math (or math w/ a concentration in stat) with a minor in econ might be a good idea.

If I were to pursue that track, I suppose the next thing I would have to investigate is how to achieve the validation by educational experience (VEE) requirement for corporate finance. Since Commerce classes at UVA, except for a few lower level accounting and general business courses, are reserved for Commerce students, I might have to look at taking some corporate finance courses at another school.

The econ department offers a course in corporate finance.

Ok, thanks for the info. I’ll definitely take this into consideration
