UIUC does not broadcast average GPA for freshman in engineering, but you can assume it is below that B average.

Just for looking at things that are published, you can consider that the James Scholar honors program is conceptually supposed to capture those in the range of the top 15%, and currently the cut-off GPA for engineering freshman in most engineering programs to be invited into the program for sophomore year, or to remain in that program after freshman year if they started as freshman, is 3.3 or the B+ range.

I heard average GPA for CS is around 2.8 for the whole department.

thank you
also are most courses taught by professors or TA's?

Some of the gen-ed classes are taught by the TA's, but I didn't have any engineering classes taught b TA's.

thanks Sang
are you a chem e student?

You can have large classes in chemistry, physics and the lower level engineering courses. Professors teach those but then you will usually have TA's for labs and for the small group quiz sessions that are often part of those.

thanks for the info
any idea where eng students typically go for grad school?
