Aviation Schools

What are the best aviation schools within the US ?

What is an average price of studyinng aviation(being a pilot) in the US?

University of North Dakota has an aviation program in conjunction with Northwest Airlines. The University tuition is reasonble, but I don’t know what they charge for flying time, which are additional costs. I’d bet it’s more reasonable than most schools.

Purdue and University of Tennessee also might be worth a look.

US Naval Academy and US Air Force Academy and both are free ride. Rigorous education and guaranteed employment for five years.

I can’t believe that ERAU (Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University) hasn’t been mentioned yet. This is what they do.

University Of North Dakota is one of the best

As people already said…ERAU (Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University), US Naval Academy, and US Air Force academy.

I think that the Naval and Air Force Academies are more rigorous academically.

Florida Tech College of Aeronautics in Melbourne - brother went there and now he flies a billionaire around for a living, not too shabby

[College of Aeronautics](<a href=“College of Aeronautics | Florida Tech”>http://coa.fit.edu/)

@Toledo- Northwest airlines doesn’t exist anymore.

Here’s a link to the Univ of North Dakota:

and a link to that airline that no longer exists:

Maybe jkaufman could explain his/her comment. Because of a merger, NWA may be changing it’s name??

[Estimated costs for flight instruction at ERAU](http://www.erau.edu/db/flightdb/newfaqs.html#costs). Just remember this is in addition to the regular tuition/fees costs for a degree. I know…S1 is an AE major in Prescott. :)

However, one does not need to earn a college degree to become a commercial pilot, if costs are a concern.

NWA is now owned by Delta. The name Northwest name will disappear within the next year or so.

Thanks, rjk, for explaining the status of NWA with better detail. Hopefully the OP, or anyone considering the field of aviation, understands the changes taking place. It wouldn’t surprise me if the airlines we have today could be totally different when the OP graduates.
