AW Fact Checking

Obviously, made up personal accounts can't be verified.
But what about made-up facts/studies/articles?

The purpose of the test is to measure analytical writing ability, right?
Will the test graders fact-check/verify if I include this kind of made-up evidence?

Is it even relevant? Can you still get a great AW score without including solid evidence in your argument? Thanks in advance.

ETS explicitly says that they are not checking for factual accuracy.

However, you should be aware that half of your writing score is determined by a computer program (the e-rater). The computer determines whether your essay is on topic by searching for key words typically found in good responses. If your made-up examples use different vocab from the real examples, your strategy could backfire.
