What are the chances of getting into MSU after 7th semester grades are requested? Does this mean deferral? 3.1 GPA unweighted with several AP classes, 25 on ACT's (28 science, 29 reading, 27 english, 21 math, 10 writing), Spanish Club, Spanish National Honor Society, Key Club, SADD, Softball, Community service. I'm also Native American, don't know if that matters and both my mom and brother graduated/go there. I suffered health issues my sophomore year which brought my GPA down substantially but has improved. My GPA for this semester is a 3.5. Opinions anyone?

It’s hard to say. In past years, it’s generally been 3.5+ is in and <3.5 is out. However, admissions are much harder in the recent years. What is your weighted GPA (for the semester and overall)? Did you explain your circumstances about your sophomore year issue?

Good luck!

My weighted GPA for the semester is 3.6 and my weighted GPA overall is only like a 3.23. My personal statement had a lot about my sophomore year in it too so I’m hoping the explanation will help me. My brother got in for the fall 2007 semester with a 3.3, they requested his grades also and his GPA for the semester they requested was only a 3.0. Do you know anything about the acceptance rate after they request grades?

I’m wondering… does everyone who gets deferred get asked for their 7th Semester grades? In other words, are there “good” and “bad” deferrals like some other schools?

I think everyone gets asked for 7th semester grades. Not sure if there’s good and bad letters like UMich has.

I don’t know for sure, but I’ve heard that about 1/2 of deferred applicants eventually get in.

I’m pretty sure the letters are all the same and everyone gets asked for their grades. I got the same exact letter as my brother, the same day exactly 4 years after he did. I noticed at the bottom they gave me a MSU student ID, don’t know if they do that to everyone but I took it as a good thing. But thanks for the replies, I’m pretty sure your right falalalena.

Have you heard from MSU yet? Counselor sent 7th semester grades in this week. I got a 3.61 for the semester… Now, my overall is 3.4933. It was down cause I missed over 7 weeks of school jr. year and missed ACT test due to being in the hospital. I told them that too. Took ACT just in dec. and applied to MSU in Dec. got 25 on ACT… MSU is my first choice… what have you heard? do you know how many people get in after getting a deferred letter about 7th semester grades? and how long it will take to find out?

sorry it took so long for me to get back, i haven’t checked this in a while. i’ve heard from state. they received my 7th semester grades and my status says I will hear in april. Unfortunately my brother’s status said the same thing 4 years ago and heard back only to hear that he got in for spring 2008 not fall 2007 and had to wait until june 9th to find out about fall. He eventually got in though. What about you, have you heard anything?

Okay, I’m sure you guys are sick of hearing from me on here, but now w/cheyennexx’s last post, I’m freaking out again.

My document status says MSU received my 7th semester grades on 2/1/11, (which they did). BUT my application status STILL says, “We require more information…have your counselor send in your 7th semester grades.”

I’m so worried… any thoughts anyone?
