My daughter sent in all her application materials about a month or more ago to various schools. Her high school finally sent in her transcript (manually -- via snail mail) and related details last week. We understand that at many schools it takes awhile for the transcripts to be recorded as received. Does anyone have a sense on how long it will take to record the details and then receive word?

Schools: Michigan, Michigan State, Wisconsin, UCLA, UC Santa Cruz, UC Santa Barbara, Oxy, Drexel, AU, BU, U Mass, and Minnesota?

Our experience was all over the board from an acceptance in 3 days from local state U to a top school that does not have online registry and never ‘sent word.’ They said they would let you know if anything was missing by mid Feb or so after they’d gotten all the apps and had a chance to collate all the info. And one of the top tech schools didn’t bother to update the info on the student’s application page as they received things. We did eventually call them to make sure they had everything as it kept saying ‘not received’ or some such.

I don’t know the exact details for a specific school on the list, but for regular decision, most schools notify the applicants around April 1st, give and take a few weeks. Most of these schools should also give you a login account to check your status about the materials they received from you. Many of them will contact you if they are missing any required materials that they requested.

ttparent - Yes, we have log in information for the various schools which indicate that many are still missing transcripts. I figured that it would take a couple weeks to update the systems.

STEPHWONG - One of her friends was accepted to UCLA recently, but I figured that it would take longer. February sounds reasonable.

ihs76 - It is an antsy time with friends receiving word back from some schools, and then just feeling like so many things are on hold… Mentally, I am not holding my breath - although I just created an account here because I felt like I need to take a breath.

Fall 2012 freshman Freshman decisions will be in available in mid-to-late March, 2012.
Fall 2012 transfer Transfer decisions will be available in mid-to-late April, 2012.

Drexel is rolling admission, so you should hear from them fairly quickly after the application is complete. We had to have the HS guidance office resend transcripts last year because they got lost in the paper shuffle. American and BU are not rolling, it may have been March before we heard from them a few years ago when my daughter applied.

ttparent - Thank you for the timeline. A girl my daughter knows received her UCLA acceptance last week, and so she’s under the impression that the dates could be much earlier. I figured Spring – but wanted to ask…

mamabear1234 - A few of the schools are rolling – and it would be lovely to hear something positive from any of them at this point (I think that would decrease some of the nerves…) Her high school had an absolutely horrific process of sending out the transcripts. In fact, I had to call repeatedly and send emails after I personally addressed the envelopes. They were going to wait until way after the due dates to submit the transcripts. So, I am just hoping that nothing gets lost – We did see today that a few schools received the transcript today!
