Awards Between Admission Deadlines

What should an applicant do if they will receive an award between admission deadlines? More specifically, should someone apply EA or RD to a school if they will have one more "Excellent EC" as defined here [http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/discussion/comment/2646596/#Comment_2646596] by the RD deadline than the EA deadline?

In other words, is it possible that such an achievement could be the difference between being rejected (not deferred) or accepted? Should I apply EA anyway and assume that another "Excellent EC" can only make the difference between deference and acceptance, rather than rejection and acceptance, and just update my application with my new achievement once I get it in the event that I'm deferred?

I would apply EA anyway. If you receive the award before the EA notification date (or the RD notification date if deferred), simply update admissions. I doubt that the award will make or break the application.

Apply EA and note the item as award candidate or finalist whichever is more appropriate.
