Awesome ACTers

Has anyone gotten at or above a 32 on the ACT? What tactic did you use to finish? The ACT is easy but the timing is intense...i NEVER finish except on the essay portion. This costs so many points because of its steep curve!! Is 32 a good enough score for Harvard or Princeton and yale? Anyone applying with the ACT...what did ya get?

i didnt really use any tactics, itook it cold, without looking at any questions or the format and i pulled a 34... time wasnt really a problem for me on any section
im not bragging, you wanted to know

as far as beign good for harvard, im pretty sure 32 is average or at least decent, i could be wrong though

36, took some practice tests to get used to time issues. Since I go fast, I typically make some stupid mistakes, but I lucked out and it didn't happen on the actual exam.

31, took it with no pratice or experience, just retook it hopefully scores will go up. i never had a problem with the timing except for things i'm not good at (math/science).

i have a 32 too, retake in Oct

I know that 32 is in the mid-50 range of ALL schools (all ivies, MIT, Stanford etc).

so, hopefully a 32 should be fine.

For the reading, you need to read VERY VERY fast in order to answer all the questions! I always end up screwing up the set of questions to one passage! That's murder to the score! I am so darn worried about my ACT score from this saturday! I will be happy if I make a 30...that's how crazy it was! Also, the curve is wickedly steep..one wrong...BAM...down to a 35 in one section!

I don't know anymore. There's someone with a 26-29 range that wants to apply to Harvard and people said that being Puerto Rican those scores will be ok as long as he has a RIGOROUS courseload and high rank! Is this true? I am also Puerto Rican and will probably get a 30 or 31...will this be ok? My courseload is insane. My school offers 12 APs and I have taken 13 (online courses help)! Also being in block scheduling your whole HS career would only allow one to take 16 APs...so that is extremely impressive that I have taken 13! Also, I have taken many honors courses and my rank will be 2/550 or maybe even 1/550 if my online grades come in on time. I hope all will go well because my life is soo crazy and I hope it all pays off...

There's no way to know whether a particular score is going to be "ok" without reading your whole application. I would probably tell a kid who couldn't break 20 not to waste $70, but as long as you're in reasonable range, it's certainly worth your while to apply.

Anyone else? Anyone get in with a 30?

apfreak- do you realize that, in every post you make, you talk all about yourself? About how you take online courses, you take 12 aps, you are from a rural school, you are Puerto Rican, you are from NYC originally, blah blah blah? It gets really annoying...this is the Harvard board, not the "please build up my ego" board. Just CHILL OUT. You only get one senior year, so try to enjoy it, not waste your time posting your stats over and over on the internet, trying to convince strangers that you should get into Harvard. It sounds like you are trying to convince yourself- which is the wrong tactic, given that you need to have confidence to then convince Harvard. Just breathe.

Hey...you're right but realize this post is old...hehe...which may even prove your point. It's just that app are due soon and this is the way to vent anxiety so please understand...you must have felt remotely similar when you were a HS senior.

apfreak- Regardless of what I felt....why aren't other HS senior posters posting like you are then?
