Awesome, focus decisions are out

Hey Duke 2010,

Which FOCUS did you guys get into? I personally got into Global Health. Haha. Awesome. See you guys there.

Global Americas

Visions of Freedom!

That was my FOCUS DrumNDukie! :D Let me know if you have any questions. :)

Visions of Freedom, too!

Exploring the Mind

Memory and Invention

Anyone taken this cluster before and care to give thoughts?

I think Memory and Invention is new...or at least it wasn't an option last year.

I got into Global Health

I got into Game2Know

Does anyone know if we will definitely be enrolled in the courses we selected on the Focus application? Could they possibly shuffle us into other courses in our cluster?

yaaaay, exploring the mind! can't believe it, that was my 1st choice. anyone ever done it?

Most people are enrolled into at least one of their choices. I was lucky last year and got both.

Hey, do you guys know whether or not FOCUS classes are graded? I checked course descriptions and found something about classes being pass or fail. Is this true?

just the IDC is pass/fail. That's because all it really is is dinner one night a week. For my FOCUS, we had to visit the Nasher and then write a 2 page critique, and towards the end of the semester, each class did a small presentation for the rest of the cluster about what they had been doing during class... not sure if anyone else did this, it just worked really well with classes about the arts. For example, the theater class presented Forum Theater to both the rest of the FOCUS cluster and to one or two other FOCUS groups.

what does anyone know about global americas

Visions Of Freedom!!!! :-d

Awesome, you'll have Betsy Gwyn (Verhoeven?) for Writing 20. I had her for FOCUS last year, and she's a great professor.

Memory and Invention!! Yay!!

Does anyone know in what dorms they usually house Focus students?

Well each focus is in a different dorm... and this year there are 11 focus groups... so that should fill up the majority of the dorms... also, they rotate which are in each dorm each year.
