Clemson announces scholarship support in science and engineering fields

CLEMSON Clemson University is guaranteeing all Palmetto Fellows in the College of Engineering and Science will receive additional scholarship support to make up for costs not covered by the Palmetto Fellows program.

To meet the demand for students proficient in physical science, mathematics and engineering fields, incoming freshmen in the college will receive a minimum of $4,500.

This scholarship offered by Clemson parallels the states commitment to increasing interest in science and math fields because of the positive impact graduates in these fields can have in fostering economic development, said Marvin Carmichael, director of Clemsons financial aid office and assistant to the president.

The scholarships are made possible by a reallocation of existing scholarship funds and will make up the difference in cost not covered by the Palmetto Fellowship.

Clemson has the premier engineering and science offering in the state, and this new scholarship helps ensure students, who are the best and brightest in the state, have an opportunity to study here, said Clemson admissions director Robert Barkley.
