I know that right now is the prime time for colleges to spam your mailbox and emailbox but every once in a while, they send you a little something extra.

I love when they add a small gift, like Duke sent me a poster. But my favorite is the Carleton College calendar (guess what college) sent me, since it notifies me of all useless holidays (March 18th is awkward moment day).

I got a baseball hat from Marquette. And a magnet from some school in Florida. That’s it.

But my brother is only a sophomore and his PSAT scores are wayyy higher than mine already so maybe he’ll get some interesting stuff. (Plus I put him on the mailing list of a few hundred schools. :D)

My friend’s D got a calendar from Cornell Law School with LOTS of pictures of it in the winter and tons of snow. That made her choose to decline their offer & attend UCLA where she could surf instead. She was very happy with her choice. Our S got some dogtags from a military recruiter sent to him but that was about it. D got NOTHING mailed to her, except now that she’s in cinema, competing cinema programs send her info about their summer programs. ;)

You lure me in with the title, then crush my retort on the first line.

I’m surprised by the stuff people are listing. I only ever got paper mail (tons) and email (tons). And I’m a NMF, so I’d think my PSAT would lead me into the gimmicky mail. Ah well.

I got a hat from Whittier College and I got a bookmark from Kenyon College. I like the bookmark a lot because it says “Still waiting for your owl?”

S was sent a few DVDs from USC–about different programs, including one from Viberbi engineering. He wouldn’t watch it but I found it interesting.

Also, I like how Wharton accepteds, find the need to state they’re going to Wharton, and buy those special pretentious Wharton sweatshirts. I mean we it’s not like they’d want anyone thinking they go to some lowly school or something.
