Remember the glory of falling on your butt down the stairs in HS, or getting smacked in the face with a basketball during PE? Anyone have any moments like that in college? Embarrassing food-in-class situations, roomate situations, bathroom awkwardness? Advice on how to avoid bad moments? Funny stories?

While on my classes study abroad trip to Ireland I managed to fall on my arse down the stairs in front of everyone at a really fancy place where we were having our formal dinner for our last night there. Yeah... in Ireland things are much smaller than we're used to... small, steep steps and high heels aren't a nice mix.

Also had my seltzer water explode on me in calc today, and all over my pants... the teacher was going over some problems I had already known how to do so I slipped out quick to clean up.

As with anything else, embarrassing moments are going to happen lots in college... it's just how you handle them that will make them a positive, funny memory or a negative, blush inducing one.

This falls under funny story, room mate situation (sorta), and bathroom awkwardness. A nice triple threat if you will. My freshman year my room mate and I were watching tv in our room, and our suitemate was in the shower. For about an hour. My room mate needed to use the bathroom, so he knocked on the door and asked when our suitemate would be done in there. The suitemate popped out in a towel a few minutes later, my room mate did his thing, and our suitemate went back to the shower. At this point we were pretty sure something else was going on in there. While it was all going on, another guy on our floor came running into our room because he was being chased by a midget, after talking to the suitemate. Turns out he left his girlfriend in the shower while my room mate was in the bathroom because she was too drunk to get out. Later that night we took a peak into the other room, and the suitemate and his girlfriend were in his bed, while the girlfriend's sister was passed out on the couch next to the midget. Needless to say it was an interesting night.

Tonight in Poli Sci class, this guy was walking in front of my seat to get to a seat further down the row and got my backpack strap stuck around his ankle. I then spent a good 5 minutes trying to set him "free".

Yeah. Fun times.

haha...i esp like the shower story ;)

There's this place on the sidewalk that kinda sticks up a bit and people trip on it all the time. It's kinda funny to watch people walk there.

Oh and I trip on the sidewalk or fall up/down the stairs daily.

A few people I know have funny stories about their roommates talking in their sleep about random crap and yelling at them about stuff that isn't happening.

I think my life is one continuous awkward moment. From this year, two of my best (and of course there are the usual tripping, dropping things, getting jumped on by squirrels, etc) are as follows.
1) When I first moved in to my apartment, my shower wasn't working so I borrowed my (male) friend's shower because he lived closest to me. As I open the door to the bathroom wearing my towel, one of his roommates was just moving in. With his parents. They looked mighty surprised to find a mostly naked girl standing in his bathroom, and the introduction was just awkward as all get out.

2) Through a series of unfortunate events that involved nothing dirty, one of my bras ended up falling out of my window into some bushes. I went outside, poked around in the bushes, found it, and started heading back inside. A guy saw me coming and held the door open for me like a gentleman. As I got closer, he realized what I was emerging from the bushes holding, and that I was covered in leaves, and gave me a really, really strange look. I just looked at him and told him not to ask, and his classic reply was, "Wasn't gonna." He then proceeded to introduce himself, and we're kind of friends now.

Almost all of the buildings on campus are equipped with swipe-thingies to swipe your student id card, but they're never actually locked and you can just walk right in; the only buildings that you have to swipe to get into are the dorms. It's always amusing to see a kid swiping into the math building, and then watch his expression when you just pull the door open and walk in. It's a little awkward too, so I thought it would be appropriate to share =)

What made me laugh is in the cafeteria when there was a large sign of "out of order" on top of the drink dispenser, yet about 25 guys in a row (not girls, ironically) proceeded to attempt to get drinks from it anyways. Reminded me of one of those candid camera episodes

Oh and everyone has awkward moments in college, even more so than high school I think. But people care less and don't make as huge a deal out of it for the most part.

On move-in day, I was walking down the street to find my dorm, and I passed four upperclassmen and a campus cop. The campus cop asked if we knew where we were going, and I turned around to say yes, but ended up tripping on the sidewalk (all the sidewalks are really uneven here) and falling flat on my face.

I tried to laugh it off, but I was mortified.

I've only heard about this one: move-in day, people are meeting each other for the first time, dorms are piled sky-high with bags and people, and over the mayhem two suitemates begin fighting and a voice is lifted:

"OH YEAH?? Well F*** YOU!! NEOPETS IS AWESOME!"

The other day in my Calc class, a guy walked up and said "Hi, [Sola]!" and began initiating a conversation. I had no idea who the heck he was and attempted to guess which class I sort-of knew him from--and guessed totally wrong. Turns out he's in a ten-person seminar I attend every week.

My life is, alas, a series of moments like these.

I met a girl and got into a decent convo with her on orientation.
3 weeks later, I see her for the first time since, coming out of a building I'm about to enter. The door is open facing me, as I'm about to say "hey" I walk into the door and slam my side into it, right in front of her. And well now I don't know her anymore XD

^^Excellent :-D

Pretty common, but i always fall up the stairs

I agree with that.

well i already have my awkward moment. For the first time of my life, I went streaking with three other friends on the beach. Running around on the water naked. Felt great, but got my face red.

Freshman year I had a one night stand with a cutie, few days later I found out she had a twin; couldn't tell them apart if my life depended on it.

There was this guy laying on the grass reading a book who looked a lot like one of my friends who I was supposed to meet for lunch. It wasn't until I was standing at his head that he looked up, and I realized it wasn't my friend.

"What's up."
"Oh, you're totally not who I thought you were. Bye."

And then I saw my friend 10 seconds later.

I'm really not looking forward to having to share bathrooms with about twelve other people. Gross as it is, I can not go if other people are in close proximity.

^^That's why you find random bathrooms across campus, lol.
