Awkward question for college girls...

Yes. Going commando is cool, except it hurts for us guys.

Well, hopefully you don't wear lingerie....

sry to bring this thread back up.

but IMO, it's kinda nasty to throw ur undergarments in the laundry along with all the other dirty clothes. bras, okay.......panties...not really

My underwear is also Victoria's Secret and I've never had a problem putting it in the washing machine, but if it's a real issue, they sell products for that sort of thing. Someone already mentioned good suggestions.

I always hand-wash my bras in the sink in my dorm room. Underwear, also Victoria's, is fine to throw in the washer on delicate.

where do u hang the stuff tho? if ur gonna wash some of it by hand?

I hang them up on hangers on my closest door since there are hooks (you can always put up sticky hooks, they work great.) Otherwise you can just hang them on your closest doorknob, off an open drawer, or off the side of your bed if you raise it up and aren't bunked. I hang them up at night and by morning they are dry.

lol it'll be funny when a guy walks in

Holy smokes, fancy panties girls you are! I always stuck with GapBody- their underwear can get ridiculously cheap on sale at $2.99 and last well.

Just get a mesh bag. I've had my stuff for the last 8 years and they always held up well through washes and line-drying.

The idea hand-washing in a public bathroom sink... ewwwww. People spit stuff in there!

AND as for any lost underwear- just leave it in the room or dump in the garbage if no one claims it. People really, really don't like to touch other's underwear unless they have to - like taking out the load and putting it on the top of the machine.

If your underwear is dirty enough that you wouldn't want to put it in with the rest of your laundry then you're probably not doing another part hygiene correctly.

lol should be the opposite. doesn't matter how dirty the rest of the clothes are (they're not but still...), it's still kinda gross to put underwear in the washer along w/them...they're more intimate i guess?

that's what I'm saying!

edit: hmm . . . so, if you washed one pair with your clothes and one with just underwear, I would hope you would never tell the difference.

As far as worrrying about looking conspicuous hanging up lacy underwear...IMO, that's a lot less embarrassing than, say, being caught washing huge granny panty underwear with stretchy elastic, stains, holes etc.

If I found panties in my wash I'd sell them. Those japanese will pay big bucks on ebay. jk haha.

It'd only be kind of dirty if your panties had blood on them. Otherwise, I wouldn't know why it'd be weird to put them with your other clothes. Plus, my university charges $1.50 per load and I'm not paying for another load just for my panties.

Washers are hard to come by in my dorm. I wash bras in the cold & panties in the warm wash. It saves so much time.

lol that's not what i said! haha

I learned to do laundry in a dorm laundry room (hey, I was only 16) and then, and ever since then it's been washing prettymuch all colors and fabrics together on cold/cold and knits settings. I own many items from VS and Fredrick's, and even after dropping $60+ on a bra, I wash them the same way. Funny thing is, those expensive ones that say handwash only have held up over the past 3+ years, good as new... and things you'd think are cheap enough not to really care for have all been replaced a couple times. I say don't worry about it. Just don't wash bras in with shirts made of material that is too delicate as the hook clasps can make little holes in them! (yeah, experience is grand!)

I've never used a lingerie bag. Hmm...good idea though.

I only buy VS underwear and bras (because the bras fit), some of which are fairly fancy. The undies I throw in with my clothing in large loads on cold with the idea that they will be less stressed since they have less room to be tossed about. I have no clue if this is true, but it's worked for 2.5 years so far. I never put my underwear in the dryer because it can break down the elastic.

I have a rubbermaid container that I use for handwashing my bras, since they can't be machine washed. I would handwash actual lingerie too. Yay Woolite!

And before anyone says anything about washing underwear on cold, I'd like to say that I've never gotten sick from it.

i also use the mesh lingerie bags on the delicate/handwash setting; i've never noticed any damage, even with expensive or lacy bras (e.g. this one). i do not use dryers but have a fold-out drying rack in my room.
