Did anyone else get their results? I took mine in May. Bad news...

I got the letter yesterday. I passed.

I passed, but I'm still confused as to what happens if you don't; does one just have to take an easier writign course in college?

The AWPE is a prerequsite to certain writing courses. If you pass then you eligible to take what I would like to think "normal" level writing courses. If not, then you kinda take a step back and take a different writing course before you can continue. Alsooo...if you get a 4 or 5 on the AP English test it fulfills the GE requirement and you don't have to take English ever again! :) :)

yeah, if you fail, you get to take remedial english and be behind a quarter or two or something. which doesn't really matter THAT much, other than having to take a few extra classes. however, if you're like this one girl i knew at cal poly pomona and you have to take remedial math, as an engineering major, you're kinda screwed, as far as graduating on time is concerned. but this is english, and i'm willing to bet that there are a LOT fewer english majors than engineering majors in the world.

Well, I think I'm the only one who didn't passed. I feel like an outsider..

oh man i didn't even take this test LOL

if you don't pass, take humcore and you won't be behind. You don't take extra class, you just have to take a 6 unit class for only 1 quarter instead of a 4 unit one.

what's humcore?... I doubt I'll pass the AP English.. so I have to get serious in Sept.

Okay question: I didn't pass the AWPE but I'm still awaiting my AP Eng Lit exam score. If I pass the AP exam, am I exempt from taking the extra class(es)?

Obviously, I know if you pass the AP exam with a 3, you're good. But a friend said that it doesn't count because I took AP Lit my senior year and for some reason, it's too late to account that score. I think that's bull.

I thought that as long as you pass the AP Eng test then you're exempt from the AWPE. You should be fine if you pass it.

britishsaySHUHup: You'll be fine if you receive that AP Lit score. That would originally exempt you from the AWPE, but you are advised to take it in case you don't acquire the 3. Good luck.

Thanks for clearing that up and relieving a mountain of stress off my shoulders.

xranger: if you don't pass, take humcore and you won't be behind. You don't take extra class, you just have to take a 6 unit class for only 1 quarter instead of a 4 unit one.

i hear that humcore is very hard. think u'd be better off getting a pass b4 the school year starts and get into a regular writing course

does ne1 kno what it takes to get into intensive writing? did ne1 get in yet?

some people find humcore hard, some people find it easy, it's just depends on the person.

The thing I like about humcore is that it satisfies both writing and humanities requirement whereas the regular writing series only satisfy the writing requirement.

Hell yeah! 3 on AP Lit. Woo hoo, no remedial classes. Thank God!

I don't care if humcore is hard. Do you actually learn something in the class? I didn't pass the awpe exam, and yes, I'm actually glad I failed because I know that my writing is well-below average. I didn't read that many books in hs. My english classes were a complete joke. I really want to improve my writing... Any suggestions?
