Awww sorry guys--please chance me!

Gpa (recalculated): 4.0
rank: 10/50
arizona private
SATs: 670, 700, 760 (I think my math score has the potential to be a lot higher when I get it back next week)
if you're wondering why my rank is so low, its because of my freshman year which was not that good at all and some classes I did badly in that aren't "core academic classes"

my extracurrics and stuff are pretty good: I don't think that I would be rejected from a college because of them.
Basically, I just want to know how they are going to look at my rank. If they don't care about freshman year, then they won't care about my rank, right?

oh and 2 more questions of clarification:
1. does mich superscore? I don't think so, right?
2. do they care about the writing section?

“SATs: 670, 700, 760 (I think my math score has the potential to be a lot higher when I get it back next week)”
–Which score is which (which one is CR, V and M)?

UM does not superscore
They care about the writing, all top schools do.

sorry!
the scores go in the order: CR, M, Writing

I don’t think rank matters very much to them.

If you are in-state, you will more than likely get in with a 4.0 and a pretty decent SAT score.

Make sure you write good essays. Michigan usually won’t take your ranking into account…unless everyone has a 4.0 or everyone wants to go to Michigan or something…then you kinda have a problem =/

Michigan does not superscore and Michigan cares about the writing section (though I am not sure if it cares as much about the W section as it does about the M and CR sections).

Anyway, Michigan is a match for you. Try to apply Early Response (before November 1).

Ah, but they’re not in-state. Arizona.

rank matters but OP is only top 20%
I would have to say match mainly because of the GPA.

oh and I just got my SAT scores back
so now not superscored I have a 680CR, 780 M, 720 W (12 essay)
I don’t know if that makes a difference…but maybe?

4.0 GPA plus 2200 on the SAT should get you in, possibly into the honors program.

wow. when you put it like that : “4.0 plus 2200” it sounds dumb that I"m asking for chances. I didn’t really think of my stats that way
but thanks for all the help!

you’ll get in with little trouble.

good luck!

thank you!
