My niece went there, and she absolutely loved it. The students are all very clean cut, and hardworking. And there are a lot of innovative programs to choose from. It is in a safe suburban location as well.

I have a few friends going there who are in love with it.

It's a smaller, more clean-cut environment, but the students find ways to have fun. It seems like a really nice, happy place.

4th rate school for people who could not get in elsewhere. WAAAYYYY overpriced for what you get. "Clean-cut" and "safe suburban" means hard core right wing Christian republican campus. Academically, it is a pay a fee buy a degree school. I would take any Cal State school over this place in a heartbeat, you get so much more bang for your buck.

Lots of kids from my D's "right wing Christian republican " High School aspire to go here. It's not what we wanted for our D, but it sure sounds nice and "safe" compared to some of the schools she's pondering.

what's wrong with being clean cut and right wing?

If your asking me," not that there's anything wrong with that", but she's done that for the last 14 years, and it was a little more thin we bargained for when we signed her up for preschool at age 4..

Actually my D did get into several Cal State schools however when you look at their Nursing programs Azusa's is a much better program. Cal State has a severe shortage in teachers for the nursing programs so as one state school told us "it can take up to 8 years to get your degree." Ouch, no thanks. I guess we would rather "pay a fee, buy a degree." 4 years at a private school is cheaper than 8 at a state school.

Yikes UCLA PhD! I went to APU DESPITE being accepted at your (apparent) alma mater because I got a great scholarship and they had a more personalized approach to their legal theories classes. I then went on to get my JD from a T14 (and liberal) law school. I’ve always been a little left of center politically speaking and never felt intimated or overwhelmed by some of APU’s conservative tendencies.

In the future I hope you’ll consider tempering your responses with more facts and fewer opinions. Opinions can be extremely valuable - but usually more so when coming from someone who has a more objective stance and is less…here’s my own opinion…snobbish about academic institutions…?

That’s a very interesting opinion that a Cal State would be better than APU. I disagree and believe that anyone who does their own research on the matter will take my side on this one. There are some great Cal States (especially SDSU) but dollar for dollar the connections and networking opportunities (with professors and professionals) and the ability to get the classes you need when you need them (I have several friends who took 5 1/2 and 6 years to finish at Cal States because they couldn’t get classes) APU far outshines any Cal State. But just my opinion.

My friend’s D will be graduating from APU in May. She has loved it. She already has a job lined up…unlike her brother who graduated from Columbia in May 09 (who is still unemployed).
