Hey, back when I was applying to UCLA, I didn't much about the school's programs, only that I wanted to major in economics. In my ignorance, I signed up for Mathematics/Economics because I come from a strong math background. It wasn't until recently that I found out about the school's Business Economics program. First of all, for someone who's interested in pursuing an M.B.A., would it beneficial/desirable for me to take Business Economics over Mathematics/Economics? If so, will it be difficult for me to transfer from a Math/Econ. major to Business Econ. major?

It doesn't really matter what you major in if your goal is to obtain an MBA. Stanford's business school, for instance, consists of 35% engineers.

You know... you do have quite some time to make those decisions once you're actually studying here. Look at the requirements for both and see how they overlap. . . Really, getting an MBA is a good few years into the future . . .

^ It's never too early to plan out your future though. I can assure you that undergrad is going to fly by fast.

i think math/econ will help you A LOT more in the world of finance than bizecon. Finance is becoming EXTREMELY math/comp sci based. It's no wonder that math, physics, comp sci, and engineering students are HEAVILY sought out in the finance world.

also, just for perspective sake, im a neuroscience major, and EVEN I can apply for MBA programs. The only requirement is the GMAT and EC's.

I agree with the above. UCLA biz-econ is a dime a dozen (no offense). Especially when you consider all the other ug biz programs that are better. But if you can show that you can do complex math you are going to set yourself apart....especially when it comes to trying to land the top internships (which will be tough enough from UCLA).
