B+ in AP Lit

So my grade in AP Lit dropped from a 97 in the first quarter to an 88 in the second quarter. The class suddenly got harder in November and I was caught off guard for a bit. How will this downward trend(which will appear in the Midyear report) hurt my application to top Universities and Colleges?

Bumppppppp

It won’t. It’s not a ‘downward trend.’ It’s just one grade. You need to relax and focus on something more substantial, like what you’ll have accomplished this year if you get waitlisted at a top choice and want to update the admissions committees with your most recent achievements.

No a B in an AP class will not affect you.

Update: French dropped from 93 to 86.

Would I have to send a letter to every college explaining the plunge in these two grades? It was basically two tests which totally screwed up my second quarter.

All my other grades are at the same level or even rose a few percentages. In college, I plan on pursuing a business major.

Those aren’t terrible plunges… I would feel no need to write to these colleges. Definitely keep it above 80, or at least try to. A “C” MIGHT warrant some nervousness, but is still not usually viewed that badly.

I’d withdraw your application and spare adcoms the laughter when they receive that mid year report…

No it’s not a big deal.

Thanks. But wouldn’t admissions officers question the ~10% drop in those two classes? Even if they are not related to my intended major.
