I am a sophomore with a 4.575 GPA right now and my AP Stats grade dropped from an 88 to and 82.4 over the past two days. I have another test tomorrow and it is my last opportunity to maintain a grade in the B range. I am at the halfway point in the year. I got an 88 in the class last term, so if my grade does not change my semester average will be an 85. I have a 97 in my other AP class and 94s and above all my other (honors) classes. I am one of top three students in my class, so I am wondering if I obtain a B+ as a final grade for this class will top colleges reject me simply because of this one B? Also, I was hoping to raise my GPA this term, but that will not happen now so what schools can I get into if I maintain this GPA?
No. If you get rejected, it will not be because of a B.
In a recent survey, more than 50% of Harvard’s incoming freshman class self-reported an unweighted high school GPA of 4.0. As such, my suggestion is to log-off of College Confidential for the next year, get a tutor, and study harder!
If you are one of the top three students in your class, it is likely that you are doing a fine job. I will be honest, colleges do like to see uniform performances in the A range–but one B will NOT impact Yale’s decision about you, even in the slightest. I would imagine if you had two or three Bs even, that is also perfectly acceptable, possibly even four Bs and maybe 5 if you had an upward trend. I would also especially undermine the “damage” this B from Stats is causing because you are doing relatively stellar in your class. Keep up the great work and stay confident! You can do it!
You have at least two threads about getting a B+ in AP Stats. Move on from it.
I got a 94 on most recent test. Grade went up a point. Thanks for feedback.
