I’ve been a straight A student all throughout high school, but I got a lower grade than I would like on my AP Literature midterm which dropped my semester grade to a B+. I know it sounds petty, but I’m applying to a lot of T20 schools. I should mention that I am very much a STEM student applying math or CS to all my colleges. How will this affect my applications, specifically to HYPSM or similar caliber universities? I can’t get my mind off of this, and I’m sort of panicking. Thanks for any help!
Do not think twice about the B+! I sit on the selection committees for both a selective fellowship and a substantial merit scholarship. Our application includes the same components of a selective college application. One B+ (even a few) will not undermine a compelling application any more than straight A’s and perfect scores will advance a lackluster application. You are good! I promise!!
I also do not think that this is a problem at all.
One B+ is no issue. Breathe.
In a similar situation. what was your outcome?
