I’m currently taking AP Physics C. I didn’t take any physics before this, but things were going well–I had an A in the class–but I flunked a test and now my grade is a B, and will stay a B or B+ at best no matter how hard I try since there’s not much time left.
Good news: this is the hardest class on campus, our school is known to have difficult AP classes, I’m not majoring in physics
Bad news: I’m applying to STEM, have no hooks/mind-blowing ECs or awards, and this is my first B. Also, other people who are competing for the same colleges have had an A in this class when they took it last year.
Worst news: I’m applying to some very difficult colleges, including MIT and Caltech… I already EA’ed to these schools and my high school doesn’t really send first quarter grades from what my counselor said (a super experienced one, btw) but I’m 70% sure I’ll get deferred (the other 30% being rejection lolz) so will this affect how they view me as an applicant by a lot when they review me again with the RD pool, and will this affect how other non-STEM institutions look at me as an applicant??
