B.S.E Students

I read some posts from CC last year in which it was said that Princeton wants to fill its class with 20% prospective eng. majors. That is pretty high, and it was also said that the acceptance rate for BSE students is higher than normal (since eng. is not a popular major there). btw. I applied for BSE computer science. any comments?

i think if u look in the archives, you should be able to find something...as to an exact link, i unfortunately cannot provide u with one :(

i hope we have a better chance - engineers are better anyway!!!! I applied for chemical engineering. :) Lets hope all goes well........G'luck!

I applied as chemical engineering too!!

I applied for Elec engg

< BSE Comp Sci.

This year princeton accepted 94 prospective BSE aspirants early, if that helps.

well thats about 17% of the early acceptance pool, so that sounds right. and i was ED deferred chemE as well, so, yeah.

Computer Science BSE as well. I hope the increased odds work out for us.

Hurray for BSE Comp Sci!

lol mr. 1600. When u celebrate, u make us idiots feel like crying.

but my main question was: does Pton really have a higher accpetance rate for BSE students then others?

1) The %age of BSE students accepted early = 15.83%. i.e. If they have to push it up to 20%, they need to accept slightly more BSEs under RD than the early round.

2) No, Princeton claims both BSE and AB have an equal chance at acceptance, and they do not favor either. But that's what they say for any such factor!

3) It's no use dissecting Princeton's selection procedure now. We'll know in 2 months :)

good points mercurysquad. Studying engineering at Pton would be VERY nice...but its a long shot, so who knows? 2 more months really. Heh

i applied for CHem E too. how come there are so many ChemE. applicants here? ^^

damn. I should have applied for BSE :(

It's not going to guarantee admission at all. In fact, it probably wont even help us. Princeton will still look for the best most suitable candidates, for engineering.

yeah, but still, if only 16% of the BSE applicants were accepted, then they still should have about the same for RD, right? that does boost our chances quite a bit, I think. 16% for RD BSErs vs. 5% for Harvard RDers, we have a great chance i think..

we had ~30% chance under ED... what you think of that! :D

hmm....true. btw. how many Int'l RD BSErs are gonna be accepted in the coming 2 months??

~50 intls total.

Assuming 16% BSE accepted early, intls = 16% of 54 = ~9 (oh my!)
for 20% they need ~21 total.

So, no. of RD BSEers accepted = 21 - 9

Which is ........ yeah, 12.... such a HUGE lot! ;)
And that includes any possible acceptances from the deferred lot...

dont depress me....ur making a guy who hasnt cried in 15 years cry now...thats not nice :(
