Transferring from TAMU to ivys, is it easy or more like it is possible??
I'm thinking about Transferring to eastern coast colleges (possibly Ivy leagues)
and this is the reason I'm not thinking about going to NYU because I don't want to spend a lot of money to go there, when I want to (or will) transfer to different school the year after.
I'm thinking about attending TAMU and transfer to different school, but I heard it's really hard to transfer to good schools from schools like TAMU, is this true?

*I'm posting the same thing again in diff. forum because No one really responded to my previous forums and I really need some info.

definitely possible although its an uphill battle for all transfers. schools are kinda like banks, you get into one and it validates you at the other ones and you can start talking about ‘fit’ issues. That said, many successful applicants are accepted each year :D.

I wouldn’t bank on transferring but don’t give up hope either. Just work hard and wherever you end up will be nice.

For the top-tier schools like the Ivies, successful transfer students are usually very viable applicants as HS seniors – i.e. having tippy top academic performance. Was this you? Could you have applied as a HS senior and been in contention? Being accepted from like institutions is a good indicator.

Secondly, they are based on the number of slots that open which varies yearly. Yale has an accept rate ~2%. Harvard hasn’t taken any the last two years I believe. For these uber select colleges, it’s nearly impossible and no one should go in with any expectation.

The CB, College Search function, go to Admissions, they give the # of people applying for transfers and the number accepted.

Also, stick around this forum through mid-May when results from many of the very selective schools come in, people will be posting their results and that should give you a feel for the difficulty of transferring to these schools.

I meant it that I don’t want to go to NYU and transfer to different school because NYU is expensive to spend just one year…
I did get accepted to NYU…

My concern is if i have same chance to transfer from TAMU as well as NYU… because I heard that colleges pick more student from eastern coast schools…
