<p>Thanks for the sympathy! My son was actually OK with the wait list. At least he wasn't rejected outright, so that helped his pride a little. :-) Also he knew right from the start that it was unlikely he could get into the conservatory. Last year every trumpet player they accepted ended up going to Oberlin, which is highly unusual. Thus they did not really have any trumpet openings this year. My son had just thought he might get into the college and then work his way into the conservatory. However, he already has been accepted at the Lawrence conservatory and the U of N Texas music school, so those would probably have ended up better choices anyway.</p>
<p>He really is hoping that he will just love the trumpet teacher at Lawrence, because the college looks so pretty in the pictures and he has been so impressed with the people there. He will be planning to visit both schools (L and UNT) in 2-3 weeks. (And maybe U of Denver and U of Northern Colorado, if he gets some good offers from them.)</p>
<p>And yes, the visits will be crucial for the feel of the places and the teachers.</p>
