My Gpa is around 3.4. My SAT score was 1180 (M/CR) and im taking the ACT and SAT in October again. I really want to get into the 6-7 year Ba/Md program although my gpa and SAT score might be a problem. Are there any schools that fall in this range?

Plus, i can go to the carribean or Poland for these programs but im afraid that it will be a huge disadvantage for me whe nits my time for clinical rotations and reidency. any suggestions in this area?

Or should i try to apply to this program after 2 years of undergrad. so i would have a better chance of getting in the program? If i do apply, would they take me in the middle of the program? or should i just take the traditional route of 4 years or undergrad. 4 years of med. school.

I don’t think you will have a shot at any BS/MD programs with those stats. Work on that, and perhaps consider BS/DO programs, or BS/MD programs linked with out of country schools.

I would highly suggest NOT applying to BS/MD programs that force you to go to medical school offshore. It is much more difficult to get placed into a good residency as a Foreign Medical Graduate, which is what you will be.

Tell ya what, go to the undergrad that you want, wait four years, do some shadowing and volunteering and join the clubs. Most importantly, try very hard and try to get good MCAT scores. THEN if you don’t get into medical schools you can apply to osteopathic schools and Caribbean places. There is no good reason to get locked into such a program now, even if you do save a few years.

Go the traditional route.

Thanks very much guys… But i have talked to St. Georges university which is in the carribeans and the addmission counselor has told me to do all the required classes in two years over here and then transfer into there program for 5 years which equals out to 7 years anyway. So, i am highly interested in that but the only obstacle like you said blackbelt22 is that i would be locked out of good residency oppurtunities here in the U.S.

Are there really no programs in the U.S. that will accept the scores i have? i know they arent very competetive but there has to be some program in the entire U.S.

I want to stay in the U.S. for med. school but i also want to finish as fast as i can. Any suggestions on that??

You should probably just go the 4+4 route. With those stats, it’s better to just try to get into a decent undergrad and then get way better stats during undergrad to try to get into some decent med school in the US.

I would say that’s a significant obstacle lol

Why should they accept someone who had a 3.4 in high school and slightly above average SAT score when there are thousands of applicants with 3.4+ college GPA’s who can’t get in?

This is precisely the kind of attitude med schools don’t want.
