I had the impression from the presentation and student/prospective student/parent discussion at the audition that the BA in Theater Studies at Ithaca is particularly strong (i.e. stronger than many other BA programs) for anyone who might want to pursue a career in any non-performance area, such as directing, choreography, design-- but who needs to hone in on which way to go with that. It seemed that there is a particularly close knit alum community in Ithaca theater in general as well as a great networking community which helps tremendously for getting internships and eventually jobs. Can anyone comment on this or the accuracy of my perceptions?

I am currently getting a BA Theatre Studies at Ithaca, and your perceptions are spot on. Ithaca has a fantastic BA program, and Ithaca alums are everywhere, earning the nickname “Ithaca Mafia”. After graduation, you will get numerous contacts simply by having gone to this school. The faculty also really wants you to excel, and help you get internships even during your freshman year.
