BA v.s. BFA Acting

I don’t see you mentioning Muhlenberg College. It’s a very respected BA program with great financial aid and moderate stats required.

Thanks, everyone. I did pay for the majority of my application fees, all of my audition fee (I only had one) and I think I paid to send my ACT scores too…that one may have been my mom, though.

I used to be on free/reduced lunch and fee waiver in middle and elementary school, but I’m not eligible anymore since household size is factored into eligibility. We also filled out the FAFSA the day it came out and are still waiting to hear about aid packages from schools. I will look at Muhlenburg (granted it’s not too late to apply).

It’s about half and half with my favorite actors as far as college degrees. Alot of successful actors are from the NYC or LA areas, had financially stable families, and/or had family or parents that were artsy or in the business too. However, Nicole Scherzinger went to my school (she came back to visit last year :0) ) and Jennifer Lawrence is from my hometown (although her parents let her drop out at 16 and helped her move to LA so she could act).

From what I have read, Jennifer Lawrence graduated early from high school with a 3.9 GPA. Just wanted to clarify that she isn’t a drop out.

^^amtc - I partially disagree with your stmt about Muhlenberg. They DO have a fantastic BA non-auditioned Theater program (audition is for dept. scholarship); however, they don’t meet full need (COA is $52K for this school year) and they are academically selective, not Ivy League, but higher than moderate stats.

DramaMamaZ - We have good friends whose daughter was given almost full financial aid which made it much cheaper than a state school and her grades were far from stellar, mid-80s I believe. That’s what I’m basing my statement on, but she could be the exception.

Agree with DramaMamaZ here. And mid 80’s equates to a B or even B+ average, which is definitely above “moderate”, in my humble opinion. Muhlenberg is a great school and has a great theatre and overall reputation.
