ba vs. bs

not sure what the difference was, a BA in bio or a BS in bio. what are the advantages of each. thanks

Hmmmm...I never heard of a B.A. in Bio, if this does exsist then I believe they emphasize more of a Liberal Arts curriculum more than sciences. Obviously the more challenging of the two is a B.S. (Bachelors of Science) which really integrates many of the math and science courses. A B.S. is great if you want to pursue any career affiliated with Medicine/Dentistry/Chiropractic Care etc.

The BA vs BS issue usually boils down to what courses you are required to take as a freshman (more non-bio science courses required in the BS), the number of credits/courses required to take inside the department (BA usually requires less, giving you more freedom to be "well-rounded" but less specialized) and the choice of minors allowed (not that it really prevents you from doing anything you want, but outside of faculty minors are more of a hassle to register/schedule). Otherwise it's pretty much the same.

sometimes liberal arts schools only give out the BA, which means that even people in the physical and computer sciences get the BA. its really just a difference in nomenclature.
