So I’m currently a senior in high school in Southern California and I’m deciding between Babson and USC Marshall. I’m a Presidential Scholar for Babson, which comes with a half tuition scholarship and additional counseling/opportunities. I’m a regular Business Administration major at Marshall.
I’ve looked at various statistics and I do know that Babson has a very high ROI and high post-grad salary stats. I think Marshall is pretty high too, but I’m not certain how reliable that data is. I’ve heard that Marshall is more “prestigious”–not sure if that’s true or how much that matters in the professional business world.
I feel like Babson is more pre-preprofessional but I think USC has better connections. I eventually want to go into consulting, and I’m not sure which school is better for consulting. I know that I would get more personal attention at Babson, but I’m also pretty proactive.
USC would cost approx 70k a year for me
Babson would be about 45k
~money is generally not an issue
Babson for sure. There is no better school in the country for entrepreneurship and business administration than Babson. Especially at that significant of a price differential, Babson wins.
I definitely vote babson. Rated #1 (above USC) for entrepreneurship. Regarded as an amazing school where I am from. My vote 100000000%. I got into both and I think babson is a much better option.
Two excellent choices so congratulations! If both school are comfortably affordable for your family, I would take a long hard look at the two schools to decide where you want to spend the next four years. Some notable differences are:
-Size - Babson is a small college with about 3,000 students. USC is a much larger university.
-Location - Boston v LA - Both are good locations but which do you prefer? If you are from CA and want to be in CA after graduation I’d imagine that USC has a larger alumni presence in CA as opposed to Babson.
-Focus - Babson is a business oriented school while USC has a full range of options. My S had a similar choice years ago and chose the business school that was part of a larger university as he wanted to have classmates with different interests and wanted the option to be able to switch out if business if he didn’t like it and stay at the same university. Others may prefer the all-business environment. It is personal preference.
–Other – For example do you want the big time sports presence that USC has? Is there anything that strikes you one way or the other about either school?
@Will99@happy1 The OP should be a sophomore at one of those schools by now! (post was from spring 2015) Doubt they are still on CC, but what the heck @jinx43 Which one did you choose and how’s it working out? Let us know. (couldn’t be two more different schools than if you’d tried.)
