So I’m currently a senior in high school in Southern California and I’m deciding between Babson and USC Marshall. I’m a Presidential Scholar for Babson, which comes with a half tuition scholarship and additional counseling/opportunities. I’m a regular Business Administration major at Marshall.
I’ve looked at various statistics and I do know that Babson has a very high ROI and high post-grad salary stats. I think Marshall is pretty high too, but I’m not certain how reliable that data is. I’ve heard that Marshall is more “prestigious”–not sure if that’s true or how much that matters in the professional business world.
I feel like Babson is more pre-preprofessional but I think USC has better connections. I eventually want to go into consulting, and I’m not sure which school is better for consulting. I know that I would get more personal attention at Babson, but I’m also pretty proactive.
USC would cost approx 70k a year for me
Babson would be about 45k
~money is generally not an issue
Both schools are great and will surely help you succeed in the business world. From what I know, Babson’s main strengths are Finance and Entrepreneurship. What I love about baboon is that you get to start your own company during freshmen as well as the time and help they offer you in order to chose a concentration. USC is a much larger university, which gives you the opportunity to double major or minor in basically whatever you want. Another factor I would consider is Location. Boston as a city is the hub of student life; however, Babson is situated 45 minutes away. USC is in central LA which is very exciting. Depends where you want to live. I’d say go for Babson if you solely have an eye for business and USC if you want to explore other options.
I agree with what confusedsenior28 said! USC is definitely good if you want to explore other majors and Babson is good if you’re really focused on business, as it is their specialty. Babson is really interesting for business-focused student, as all their majors are business-based and you will meet more people who have basically the same interests and passions as you.
If you’re used to the Cali lifestyle and maybe want to stick with that, I say go to USC.
Babson is 45 mins away from Boston, and it can be a bit quiet (as I heard from my seniors who are currently enrolled in Babson)
I’m from Indonesia, and in here, USC has more prestige in its name.
So, if I were you I would definitely go for USC. But then again, its your choice
By the way, what do you think made you get into USC? I’m applying to USC this year and hoping to get accepted there. Some tips would be greatly appreciated!
Last Spring, our kid had 4 very strong choices for colleges, all well above USC. He decided for Babson, because his dream was always starting his business very early. I have some friends whose kids went to USC. Majority of complains - too much money spent for not very strong education. Hence, if you want to become a businessman with all stresses related to it - go for Babson. If you want to take a good job and grow in a large corporate environment, go for USC.
Btw, our kid is happy in Babson, except for their English department.
