Babson vs. Bentley 2016

Hi!
Although I have seen these two schools compared before, I would like an updated insight for both. Specifically, I am concerned about the environment/atmosphere (both socially and in the classroom), and life after both schools (like jobs, reputation of both schools, and alumni networks).

These schools seem extremely similar to me now, so I would appreciate some sort of insight to distinguish them.
Thanks!

Hello. Those questions are very hard to answer because it is hard to describe a social scene or a classroom scene. I think overall the schools have students from a higher economic level. Babson is focused on entrepreneurial studies so look to them if you would like to start your own business. Bentley graduates a lot of accountants who want to be CPA’s. Finance majors are also numerous at Bentley. Bentley would have a larger alumni network by virtue of graduating more students yearly.

You would not have a problem getting a job after graduating from either one.

Good luck

I would go with Babson. Bentley is a small school that few people have ever heard of outside of the Boston area.

We looked at Bentley with my S (for full disclosure he did not attend Bentley as in the end he decided he preferred a school that wasn’t as geared towards business). Babson was just smaller than my S wanted so we did not visit (although I do know someone who went there and was very happy).

Other than for entrepreneurship where Babson has the edge, I’d say the school’s reputations are comparable and that the schools are best known in the Northeast corridor. Overall, both are very fine business schools in the Boston area and both should be good for getting jobs. If choosing between the two I’d go with the environment you prefer, which gives you better aid etc.

@informative Bentley (about 5,500 students) is actually larger than Babson (about 3,000 students).

The point wasn’t actually size. They are both small schools. The point is that Babson is a much more renown school. Babson has the bigger name.

Babson is also much harder to get in. Apply to both.

I do get that Babson is the harder admit, but in my world (I’m a CPA doing finance in NYC) the two schools would be regarded as pretty much peer institutions. I understand that may not be the case for everyone.

^^Agree. Same industry - and same thought. Both solid business school and interchangeable in the finance world. Pick the environment you like best and location/size and finances.

If you want to major in accounting, Bentley would be my pick. It has a very large accounting program; the economy of scale in networking can be valuable.

If you want to major in entrepreneurship, Babson would be my pick. Its entrepreneurship brand power is not just national, but also to some degree international.

If you want to major in finance, Bentley and Babson are pretty much the same. They are to some degree overshadowed by quite a few other (much) stronger universities in the Boston area.

BTW, Bentley is still largely a business college. It changed its name from Bentley College to Bentley University not too long ago.

I’d really appreciate more opinions please. Bump.
