Back surgery-should I explain in additional info or my essay?

<p>I just got back surgery for a very bad injury I had during the school year. It badly affected my grades and quality of life. Should I talk about it in additional info on the common app or should I center my essay around it?</p>

<p>Btw, how much is too much for the additional info? Would it be bad to use the 650 word limit?</p>

<p>Top schools are Emory and tulane</p>

<p>I say additional info and also discuss with your guidance counselor for possible inclusion in their recommendation. Unless you want that to be the main thing that shows them you as a person (which is what your essay is for), use those other avenues and something else for the essay.</p>
