Will it be smart if possible to schedule a class thats from 1-2pm, then have another class from 2-3:30pm. Considering one ends at 2pm and another begins at the exact same time and they're in different buildings..is it the norm for students to be a couple of minutes late?

I don't think it sounds like a good idea to plan on being late.

bel0ved, I read somewhere that the classes start ten minutes later than the times posted on the schedule of classes. I have a couple of classes back-2-back, it's nothing to be too worried about.

TheIcon is correct. They mentioned many times at CalSO that the course schedule shows classes starting on the hour, but in reality they start 10 minutes late to allow for people who need to travel across campus. They refer to it as Berkeley time.

Most students TRY to engineer a schedule like that, so they don't have an hour dead time between classes. You can always check the campus map to make sure you can make the trek in 10 minutes if you are worried about being late.

Beloved> Edward and Icon are correct. Just make sure of WHERE your back-to-back classes are located on campus. I had one course last semester that was in Chavez (near the Bookstore) and my next class was uphill at Tan Hall. it was a hard walk, particularly if my first class ran over - one positive was that I got in really good shape. Check a map before you try to do it. :)

Yeah, i went to CALSO today and learned about "Berkeley time". Hopefully, the walk is not too bad.

^ me too, and now i can safely say i don't ever want anyone to congratulate me on getting into cal ever again. how many times were we congratulated yesterday? like 25.

bel0ved and itchy,

Did you get your ID card? If so, how were you treated at the ID card office?

ed- ya i picked mine up. it was painless and i was treated fine.

I didn't get a chance to pick mine up, my counselor was quite strict in keeping the group together..
