i was just wondering if it would be difficult to have back to back classes on your schedule. let's say on thursdays a class ends at 3pm and the next starts at 3pm?

Well, you do have to get to the class. So unless you can teleport or something, that could be a problem.

...there is something called michigan time...where the class starts 10 min. after the time that it says....

That is all I know...if someone wants to elaborate, please do.

Michigan time is simply "passing time" or whatever you called it in high school. For example, if a course is scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m., then it will actually start at 3:10 p.m..

All courses will start 10 minutes after it is scheduled, so see how close the buildings are and then adjust your schedule if necessary.

found this...

Can I take back-to-back classes?
Yes, you can. At Michigan classes finish on the hour and begin at ten minutes past the hour, so you have a ten-minute passing time. Classroom buildings that are on central campus are all within this walking distance. If you are going to a class on North Campus you will need to leave more room in your schedule.

so i guess it's fine. i was worried because i have back to back classes scheduled on thursdays from mason hall to dennison.

Be careful though. Sometimes classes are pretty far apart on central campus. 10 minutes might not be enough to get from MLB to Ross for example.

Michigan time is amazing, classes aren't as long :).

Try to schedule b2b classes, it is worth it; you don't waste time and you get done with your classes ealier during the day.

For the most part, everything works out. You just have to watch out for the extremities of campus. The MLB to Lorch Hall or MLB to even Dennison can be kind of tough. First semester I had to go from the MLB basement to third floor of Dennison three days a week. Most days it took me the full 10 minutes. Stop to go to the bathroom and you will probably be late.

Is taking 3 back to back classes advisable? And will it be difficult to concentrate in a back to back class straight after 1 and half hour of Calc?

I did three back-to-back classes both semesters I think, a couple days a week. Not a very big deal. But if you start getting in to 1.5 hour classes, it might kinda suck.

I'm doing 4.5 hours straight two days a week next semester. I've done 3 hours straight before, and I don't remember it being that bad.

back-to-back classes are not that bad. i've had 6 straight hrs of classes before with 4 hr lab in between and managed to stay sane.

Oh yeah, it wasn't all because of classes, but my friend would spend 8 or 9 hours in East Hall on Wednesdays (7 of which were in a row). Math 597 12-1 and Math 593 2-3 (I think), and then he was course apprentice/mentor for Math 389 from 5-7, Mathlab tutor from 7-10, and then we had math class from 10-midnight in the Psych auditorium.
