back up school?

for all of you who were deferred (like i was) what is your back up school?

I wasn’t deferred, but MSU. I’d guess that’s the same for most instate kids.

You could always try your hand at UNC-Chapel Hill, GeorgiaTech, UVA, Boston College, Boston University, UCLA, University of Texas, UMinn-Twin , UWisc-Madison, UC-Irvine, UC-Davis, College of William and Mary, Brandeis, Rochester, UC-SD, UC-SB, OSU, UConn, etc etc…

Of that list UNC, GT, UVA, UT, UCLA and W&M are all harder to get into then UM lol.

Yeah, I don’t think you know what you are talking about.

for me… it’s msu or purdue.

“Of that list UNC, GT, UVA, UT, UCLA and W&M are all harder to get into then UM lol.”

UNC and UVA OOS are both probably more competitive. I highly doubt any of the others are more difficult (or significantly more selective) than UMich admissions.

“Of that list UNC, GT, UVA, UT, UCLA and W&M are all harder to get into then UM lol.”

My ******** senses are tingling.

I agree that Georgia Tech, UCLA, UNC, UT-Austin, UVa and William and Mary are not safeties for OOS applicants, even for the most outstanding students. This said, at this time, none of those universities is more selective than Michigan, even for OOS applicants. A couple of them may have been slightly more selective in the past, but in the last couple of years, things have changed.

I would say schools used as safeties for students applying to Michigan include all Big 10 universities save Northwestern and UIUC (for OOS students to their college of Engineering).

Back up school was Georgia Tech, Accepted to Michigan, attempting to get accepted to UC Berkeley, Stanford, and Olin College of Engineering.

“I would say schools used as safeties for students applying to Michigan include all Big 10 universities save Northwestern and UIUC (for OOS students to their college of Engineering)”

Wisky would not be a safety for most students applying to Michigan either. High match perhaps would be more accurate.

i don’t think you guys need to get into a debate over this… i was just curious as to what everyone’s backup schools were.

I didn’t necessarily mean any of those schools were “back-up” schools. Most those picked are meant to be are a similar tier to UMich or slightly lower.

I was accepted, but my one and only backup was Kalamazoo. I really don’t like MSU so I didn’t bother applying.
