Im jw, coming from high school and lockers, I really had no need for a backpack my senior year: A binder would suffice, and books would be stored and carried in my locker. I know Berkeley is different, and I was wondering what backpacks were recommended? There are a billion brands out there, and I have no idea where to start. i know that I prefer one with a sleeve to hold my laptop, but other than that, idk if I will need alot of volume for textbooks? Do MCB/premeds carry around alot of t hick textbooks/accesories? lol Likewise with polisci/history majors (both majors/paths that I am considering).

Lol no, just bring a notebook/or the class reader and pen. You leave all the books at home unless you are into carrying around stuff like that.

You'll be a hit.

Ducky Dodger is right on the spot. It really doesn't matter what major you are as you're going to have to carry around a lot of textbooks to study from. I see people all the time bring in a pile of textbooks into Moffit Library along with a ton of binders and notebooks to study from. You're mostly going to have to lug around a ton of books, but maybe not any other accessories.

The backpack that Ducky recommended is actually what about 50-60% of the undergrads use on campus. I see them pull em' along all the time on Sproul so it's a normal thing to see around campus. They're great for fitting everything you could possibly need. I like the penguin design too.

Hope that helps...

haha the penguin pack? If that came in panda I'd definitely get one.

ahaha okay. I guess Ill buy the one ducky recommended. See ya in 2 weeks! Make sure to say hi, i wont be too hard to spot.

...
lol

There you go. I know you really wanted one:

That is, if you want to be a sellout and BUY your backpack. I make mine out of legos.

I have this one already! (seriously. I was a raver wannabe and this was what happened.)

from Aurora World Inc.

though currently it's packed in a box, and I don't know if I want to take it with me or not. If I do I'll be easy to spot/target on campus. XD

Get a durable notebook backpack with lots of padding. Those old $20 jansports from middle school don't suffice anymore. Try a targus.

What's with the sensible answer TropicalTriceps? :)

You need a notebook backpack if you are keen on carrying around your laptop in your backpack to class and the library, there is no need otherwise...you do have 2 hands. Personally I find it hindering to type notes, handwriting ftw.

having a panda packpack is totally sensible... refer to:

lol... anyways, I found a pretty good sales deal on northface Yavapai! I just bought one, and if anyone is interested, here's the link:

comes with a few goodies! :D

What's the best way to transport your laptop?

Mobile Edge Express Backpack (in grey camo!)

This is my backpack. Works just fine for transporting my laptop as well as my books and other stuff. Has a decent amount of storage pockets/organizer space, too, which I find useful.

not found. :(

That's why I gave you the name of the backpack; just do a search on CircuitCity.com. The grey camo one is the one I have.

system-ax

laptop sleeves!

The North Face backpacks are great! just get a neoprene case for your laptop and put that in your backpack. This way if you only need to transport your laptop for some reason you will not be delegated to carrying the entire backpack.

I have an REI backpack that zips on to a 22" rolling luggage. I use the luggage to travel back and forth home (to So Cal.) 22" is small enough to carry on. The back pack is really sturdy and I have a neoprene case for my laptop when I travel. I don't carry my laptop to classes.
