Yeah, this is a slightly useless question but I was wondering.

Do you carry your school stuff in a backpack or a messenger/one-strap bag? I just got a nifty classic paratroopers-style messenger bag, and it's smaller but fun.

A lot more kids at school have started using messenger bags-- for the guys, their's are usually techie and modern looking, in bright colors; for girls, their bags are big and cloth and purple or pink colored (though I'm a girl and mine is drab green).

No, I will never be using a messenger bag again unless it has proper padding and support. Even then I will refuse to carry more than ONE textbook. I'm even considering less than that! Those things give me HORRIBLE back and shoulder pain. Backpacks all the way.

BTW, I'm a girl and I like the more technical looking ones. The colorful crap just... isn't attractive to me. That's great for a backpack, but not my trust, pain-delivering steed.

Messenger bags are cool if you are in regular classes or have an artsy semester. If you have 2+ textbooks though, it is hard to get those things to close, let alone the pain they cause to your shoulders. Being in IB, I opt for the backpack. It is big enough to even fit my band folder! Plus, my backpack is very pretty and blue :)

You youngins and your messenger bags. I have one I use for work, but I can't imagine lugging around books in it. Do yourselves a favor, worry about function over form. Your back will thank you later.

At my school, messanger bags are really geeky, unless you're a theatre/artsy GUY.

I have a backpack, but I only use it to walk home with. Backpack stays in the locker.

The plainest book bags (I never say "backpack," it rolls off my tongue strangely) are the best bags. Mine is a red Jansport.

However, it depends on the day. Sometimes, I carry a large purse/large funky tote, or I use those stupid little sacks (like ultra-mini backpacks with absolutely no support) to carry a small book and pens.

I have a couple of messanger bags lying around, and they never get used.
