<p>My backpack weighs 28 pounds. Which is far too heavy for me to carry healthily. Is it wrong to label my backpack as "obese?"</p>

<p>That is a perfectly reasonable request. In fact, I think you should sue your school system for contributing to the prevalence of obesity in the modern world and use your $931 million from your winnings to support a movement to cure backpacks of this unfortunate but inevitable tragedy.</p>

<p>I believe that you will be crowned a national hero and loved by all. Soon children everywhere will declare you a role model and prepare for a parade in your honor.</p>

<p>The American Chiropractic Association recommends that a backpack weigh no more than 5 percent to 10 percent of your child’s body weight.</p>

<p>If you are 560 pounds, at 5% max, it'd be 28 pounds limit.
If you are 280 pounds, at 10% max, it'd be 28 pounds limit.</p>

<p>I think it's pretty ironic they do studies like that. Schools vow to "revolutionize the classroom and bring in technology", but our backpacks are still stuffed with textbooks and homework. Odd, isn't it, that my backpack is 10% of my bodyweight when it has my tiny Latin book and my science folder (10 pounds). </p>

<p>Oh well, only 8 years until my bachelor's degree.</p>

<p>As a sophomore I cut down my back-pack a lot -- mostly four-five pounds which is hardly 2% of my weight :)
My peak back-pack weight was last year in beginning of freshman year when I was carrying 50 pounds of stuff with weight of 215 but it was mostly american football gear :)</p>

<p>Everyday, I try to finish my homework in school. The heaviest I bring is usually one book, once a week.</p>
